Overview
The Roblox Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) lets Roblox creators exchange their Earned Robux for real money. Any creator can use Roblox Studio for free to build experiences and items and earn some Robux, but only successful creators reach the high requirements to cash out — reaching that level typically requires significant time, skill, and strategy, with no guarantee of earning. Only Earned Robux qualifies (from Marketplace/Creator Store sales, Creator Rewards, in-experience purchases, Publisher ad revenue, and affiliate sales); purchased, granted, or traded Robux does not. Once you meet the requirements you submit a DevEx request in the Creator Hub; if approved, you're invited to the DevEx Portal (Tipalti) to provide tax and payment info before payout.
💡 Insider tip
Focus on experiences that drive repeat in-game spending (cosmetics, pets, gamepasses) — that's what generates Earned Robux that qualifies for DevEx. You need a minimum of 30,000 Earned Robux to cash out, a verified email, and an account in good standing under your legal name. Note the DevEx exchange rate is set by Roblox and can change, and only genuinely Earned Robux (not purchased or traded) counts.
