Overview

Fortnite's Engagement Payout program pays island developers for the value they bring to Fortnite through player engagement. 40% of the eligible net revenue from Fortnite's Item Shop and related real-money purchases goes into an Engagement Pool, distributed monthly among developers' and Epic's islands via the Engagement Payout Formula — which measures active playtime, island retention, playtime surrounding Item Shop V-Bucks spend, and user-acquisition rewards for bringing new or lapsed players to Fortnite. To enroll you need an Epic account active in Fortnite for 30 days (at least 7 of them editing islands in Fortnite Creative or UEFN), acceptance of the Fortnite Developer Terms, to be 18+, to follow the Fortnite Developer Rules, and a Hyperwallet account for payouts. Payouts occur 30 days after the end of each calendar month. Note: Support-A-Creator (SAC) is a separate program.

💡 Insider tip

The formula rewards player engagement and return visits, not raw plays — Island Retention and playtime around Item Shop spend matter, and bringing a brand-new or lapsed player to Fortnite via your island earns you 75% of that player's Engagement Pool contributions for the next six months. Build maps with replay value (progression, seasonal updates, competitive modes) so returning players compound your earnings.
