The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) is YouTube's official monetization system, giving creators greater access to YouTube resources, monetization features, and Creator Support teams, plus revenue sharing from ads served on their content. Eligible creators can also earn through YouTube Premium, fan funding (Super Chat, Super Thanks, Super Stickers, channel memberships) and select Shopping features. An expanded tier lets creators in eligible countries unlock fan funding and Shopping earlier, at 500 subscribers, while full ad revenue sharing unlocks at 1,000 subscribers. Every applicant goes through a standard review to confirm the channel meets YouTube's policies and guidelines.

There are two doors in: the expanded YPP at 500 subscribers (fan funding + Shopping, eligible countries only) and full YPP at 1,000 subscribers (which adds ad revenue and YouTube Premium sharing). You can qualify with either long-form watch hours or Shorts views — but Shorts-feed watch time does NOT count toward the 4,000-hour long-form threshold.

Become eligible with either: 1,000 subscribers + 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months, OR 1,000 subscribers + 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days
Expanded YPP (fan funding + select Shopping, available in eligible countries): 500 subscribers + 3 valid public uploads in the last 90 days, AND either 3,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months OR 3 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days
